Perfecting Mobile Optimization and Location Optimization
Some of my favorite clients are clients that chose to get their hands in on their own, instead of sitting back and letting us do the heavy lifting. We love teaching these clients, and watching them put our experience to work in building their search presence.
For this client, we understood that where is facility was located (the SOHO area of Tampa) was a hotbed for customers. Instead of trying to target all of Hillsborough and all of Pinellas County, why not start just dominating SOHO (South Howard Ave.) and then leverage that into the rest of the area. The trick? How are we to get geo positioning that close. How to not have Google guess that the information on the page was actually the client’s physical address. The answer – Geocoding – special meta text that displays only in the backend of the website – not the front end where visitors can see. That tells Google, here is exactly where we are.

Did it work? Check the screenshot of the first page of Google search below the video. We are now working to leverage this search weight accross the larger Tampa Bay Area.
